How it works

How cannabis is sold in Edgewater

Is Edgewater a town?

No. It is a census-designated place in Anne Arundel County with 9,446 people counted in 2020, up 4.7% from 9,023 in 2010, and it has no municipal government of its own. Rules that a city council would set elsewhere come from the county here.

How many stores does the state list?

Two. The Maryland Cannabis Administration locator shows Mana at 3005 Solomons Island Road and The Edge at 85 Stewart Drive. Verdex lists Mana Supply Co. and not The Edge, so our count is short by one. The community's main high school, South River, belongs to Anne Arundel County Public Schools, another sign that the county is the local authority.

Which roads do they use?

Edgewater lies southwest of Annapolis on the south side of the tidal South River, with Mayo to the east, Riva to the west and Lothian to the south. Maryland Route 2, known locally as Solomons Island Road, is the main road, and Mana faces it.

Does Annapolis add options?

Yes. The same locator lists two stores in Annapolis, Goldleaf on West Street and Thrive on Generals Highway, reached by Route 2 to the north. Route 2 also runs south to Prince Frederick, so Edgewater is a middle stop for anyone driving the corridor. For the state view, see Maryland.
