On October 19, 2020, Portland's City Council scrapped its 20-store cap on adult-use retail licences, and voters removed the cap for good that November, according to Newscenter Maine. A federal judge had found the council's scoring system, which rewarded Maine ownership, unconstitutional. Verdex now lists 27 dispensaries in Portland, seven more than the original limit.
