The rules

Key rules in Canada

Plain-language summary. The regulator is Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC).

  • Minimum age

18 in Alberta, 21 in Quebec, 19 in all other provinces and territories.

  • Possession

    30 g of dried cannabis or equivalent in public (1 g dried = 5 g fresh, 15 g edible solids, 70 g non-solid products, 570 g beverages, 0.25 g concentrates or 1 seed). Some provinces cap home storage, e.g. 150 g per residence in Quebec and 1,000 g per household in B.C.

  • Home grow

Up to 4 plants per residence under federal law. Prohibited in Quebec. Manitoba passed Bill 34 in June 2024 and home growing became legal there on May 1, 2025 (19+, up to 4 plants per household, grown indoors; gov.mb.ca).

  • Public use

Set provincially: generally allowed where tobacco smoking is in Ontario and B.C. (with exceptions); smoking and vaping banned in all public spaces in Quebec; no public consumption in New Brunswick; private dwellings only in PEI; restricted in Alberta and Nova Scotia; not in vehicles.

  • Edibles and extracts

Max 10 mg THC per edible package; extracts max 10 mg per unit and 1,000 mg per package; topicals max 1,000 mg per package. Quebec bans edibles in the form of candy, desserts or chocolate.

  • Buying online

Only from provincially run or authorized retailers, delivered within that province.

  • Travel

Taking cannabis into or out of Canada is illegal, with penalties of up to 14 years in prison.

licence addresses on 48 Avenue

Same register: 6018, 6800, 6805 and 5703 48 Avenue

What does 48 Avenue hold?

Grand Park Camrose Cannabis at 6018, Canna Cabana at 6805, Plantlife at 6800 and Green Solution Cannabis at 205-5703. Two more sit closer to the centre: Lucky Buds at 5011 49 Street and Rosebud Cannabis at 3912 44 Avenue. Shoppers who compare on price will therefore be comparing within a few minutes' drive.

Why is one listing on a township road?

Headstone Cannabis Corporation is registered at 20149 Township Road 462, a rural address, under licence 302046, a different number series from the 778xxx to 785xxx licences of the town stores. Rural land follows Camrose County's rules, not the city's. The county amended its land use bylaw in 2018 to allow cannabis retail as a discretionary use in its Urban Commercial district, and set a $300 development permit fee on 14 August 2018. Treat the county and city as two rulebooks when you check a location. Alberta-wide rules are on the province page.

Cannabis in Camrose: questions

Is Headstone Cannabis inside Camrose city limits?

The address is a township road, which points to county land; the register still files it under Camrose. If zoning matters to you, ask the county planning office.

Do Camrose stores deliver?

The register entries here do not say, and Alberta requires a separate online sales authorisation on the licence; check it on the provincial list before ordering.
