Cincinnati received about $2.5 million from the state's first distribution of adult-use cannabis tax, according to WCPO, and Council Member Mark Jeffreys has proposed a "Harm to Hope" fund to spend it on expungements, lead-paint work and youth jobs in neighbourhoods such as Avondale, Bond Hill and Roselawn. The stores that generate that revenue are licensed by the Ohio Division of Cannabis Control, and Verdex lists 16 in the city. Two have scores: Zen Leaf at 8420 Vine Street in Hartwell (9.3) and Verilife at 5431 Ridge Avenue (9.1). Buyers must be 21 or older.

Where Cincinnati's stores sit, and what changed in March

Hartwell was the site of Cincinnati's first medical dispensary, WCPO reported, and Vine Street is still the northern anchor. The rest of our list spreads across the county: Consume Cannabis Co. on Beechmont Avenue, Green Releaf on Red Bank Road, Aron OH on Smith Road, Locals on West 8th Street on the west side, and Nectar Medical Cannabis on Werk Road.

  • Cap and hemp: Senate Bill 56 has capped Ohio dispensaries at 400 since March 20, 2026 and moved intoxicating hemp products into licensed dispensaries, per the Ohio Senate.
  • Limit: up to 2.5 ounces of flower a day, or THC-equivalent amounts of other products.
  • Tax: Ohio's 10% adult-use excise, state sales tax and local sales tax; the excise is returned in part to host communities, WOSU reported in February 2026.
  • Kentucky and Indiana: Kentucky is across the river and Indiana a short drive away, and cannabis cannot be carried across either state line.

Some records, including the Vine Street and Ridge Avenue chain pages, are operator profiles covering several stores. Confirm the store's certificate in the Division's dispensary map, and see the Ohio buying guide for the full limits table or the Ohio hub.
