Key rules in Connecticut

Plain-language summary. The regulator is Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) — Cannabis Control Division.

  • Minimum age

    21 for adult-use purchases and possession; medical patients 18+ may also grow at home

  • Possession

    1.5 oz on your person; up to 5 oz at home or locked in a car's trunk or glove box

  • Purchase limit

    1 oz of flower or the product equivalent per customer per day (since July 30, 2025), in one or several transactions

  • Home grow

    3 mature + 3 immature plants per adult, max 12 per household; indoors at primary residence, not visible from the street, out of reach of under-21s

  • Taxes

    From Oct 1, 2026: flat 10.75% state cannabis tax + 6.35% sales tax + 3% municipal cannabis tax (before that, tax was per mg of THC)

  • Public use

    No smoking or vaping where tobacco is banned; banned in state parks, beaches and waters; towns may add limits

  • Delivery

    Allowed: retailers, hybrid retailers and micro-cultivators deliver to adults directly or via licensed delivery services

  • Potency caps

    From Oct 1, 2026 no THC cap on concentrates (PA 26-8); flower stays capped at 35% THC (PA 26-100)

  • Driving

    Driving under the influence of cannabis is illegal; keep amounts over 1.5 oz locked in the trunk or glove box
