Look up a licenseHow cannabis is sold in Whistler
A Whistler cannabis licence is a temporary use permit, and temporary is meant literally.
Why does every Whistler store have an expiry date?
The resort's policy allows one store in each of five areas: Creekside, Function Junction, Nesters, the Village and Village North, each through a temporary use permit, according to the Resort Municipality of Whistler and Pique. Council approved permits for four stores on June 20, 2023, and A Little Bud in Function Junction opened October 6, 2023, the first. A fifth permit went to The Nest in Nesters Plaza on February 6 in 2024. Pique reports council has unanimously renewed A Little Bud's permit from October 6, 2026 through 2029, and the framework itself faced a judicial review.
Is a sixth store possible?
Not under the policy as reported: five areas, one store each, and the Verdex list has five, one per area. Function Junction and Nesters are confirmed above by their permits. Spiritleaf is on Innsbruck Drive, THC Cannabis on Main Street and This Is Cannabis on Mountain Square. Check B.C. rules for age and tax.
