  • Minimum age

18 in Alberta, 21 in Quebec, 19 in all other provinces and territories.

How it works

How cannabis is sold in Chilliwack

  1. Council creates a cannabis retail zone with a 300 metre buffer from schools, community centres, sports fields, playgrounds and supportive housing, as the City of Chilliwack describes it. Every site needs its own rezoning.

  2. Federal legalization. No Chilliwack store could open that day, because no lot had been rezoned yet.

  3. Council passes the first rezoning, 43971 Industrial Way, The Progress reported. Cannabis Connection is the register listing at that address.

  4. Councillors deny a store application, and one of them says the pile of applications is wearing thin, per Fraser Valley Today.

Which Vedder Road store is which?

Two listings share the road. Dutch Brothers Buds is at 5754 Vedder Road, an address The Progress tied to a rezoning application for a cannabis store, and This Is Cannabis is at 107-7670 Vedder Road. The Dutch Brothers name appears twice, the second time at 51296 Yale Road (separate listing), so match the street before you go. The Kure Cannabis Society is on Drag Race Road, an industrial address that suits the 300 metre rule better than a high street would. Rules for the whole province are on the B.C. hub.

Cannabis in Chilliwack: questions

How far must a Chilliwack cannabis store be from a school?

300 metres, along with community centres, sports fields, playgrounds and supportive housing, says the City of Chilliwack's zoning summary.

Can any commercial lot in Chilliwack sell cannabis?

No. The owner must apply to rezone the site to the cannabis retail zone, with public input and a council vote, and council has refused applications since, including one in December 2024.
