Look up a licenseHow cannabis is sold in Fort St John
A driver stopping in Fort St. John on the Alaska Highway finds the cannabis stores in two places: a tight downtown grid and a few lots outside it.
- Start downtown.
Canna Cabana is at 10027 100 Street and FSJ Cannabis Corner at 10115 100 Street, the same block. HIVE Cannabis is on 100 Avenue. Stores were first limited to the downtown C-2 zone, according to Energeticcity.ca. - Then the edges.
Council kept shops downtown in January 2022, then advanced a bylaw in August 2022 opening the general and highway commercial zones, C-3 and C-4, per Energeticcity.ca. One Plant Cannabis Superstore is on 96A Street and Portage Mountain Cannabis Gateway on 111 Street. - Check for a move.
In February 2026 the city supported Cannabis Corner's LCRB application to relocate, per Energeticcity.ca, so an address can change under you. - Drive it home sealed.
Storage rules for the truck are in the car guide.
Is a one-kilometre rule coming?
In March 2026 the owner of Hive backed applying the liquor-store setback of one kilometre to cannabis stores, Energeticcity.ca reported. I found no bylaw adopting it, so it is a proposal. Two of the five listed stores share one block of 100 Street, which is exactly what such a rule would end. Provincial rules: B.C..
Cannabis in Fort St John: questions
Can cannabis stores in Fort St. John be outside downtown?
Yes. A zoning expansion moved beyond the C-2 downtown zone into C-3 and C-4 commercial zones, according to Energeticcity.ca.
Has Fort St. John capped the number of cannabis stores?
Not that I found. A one-kilometre spacing rule was being discussed in March 2026, but no adopted bylaw turned up.
