Whose bylaw applies to a Duncan address?
The City of Duncan is small and the mailing address "Duncan" is not. The Cowichan Valley Citizen reported that the city chose temporary use permits for its cannabis shops, while North Cowichan requires a rezoning and applies the 300 metre gap. That matters for Warmland Cannabis Centre at 4715 Trans-Canada Highway and Costa Canna on Green Road, which are the listings I would check against the municipal map first. High5 Cannabis on Canada Avenue and The Original FARM on the highway complete the list, and Plane Jane Cannabis Co. is on Cowichan Lake Road.
What happened at Cowichan Commons?
Cowichan Tribes and the provincial government both applied to North Cowichan to open a store in the Cowichan Commons centre north of Duncan, and the Tribes asked the province to withdraw its application, the Times Colonist reported. North Cowichan wanted to hear the two together. I did not find how it ended. The B.C. hub covers age and tax.
