How it works

How cannabis is sold in Tacuarembó

Until early 2026 the north of Uruguay had a hole in its legal cannabis map, and Farmacia Santa Cruz at 25 de Mayo 457 is one of the patches.

What did the north lack before?

IRCCA's report for January to April 2026 says the arrival of pharmacies in Rivera and Tacuarembó ended a long gap in the north. Twenty pharmacies joined the network between January 2025 and April 2026, taking it to 60, of which Montevideo has 26. Only Colonia, Durazno, Florida, Soriano and Treinta y Tres still have none, so Farmacia Santa Cruz is one of 60 outlets in the country, and the only one in its department.

Who can buy, and at what price?

Only adults with a valid Uruguayan cédula as citizens or permanent residents, registered once at a Correo Uruguayo post office and checked by fingerprint. Packets hold 5 g; from 1 August 2026 the state price runs from $500 for Alfa to $630 for Épsilon. Limits are 10 g in any seven days. Advertising is banned, so no hours are posted. The registration guide has the steps, and the Tacuarembó page covers the department.
