How it works

How cannabis is sold in San José

San José has two authorized pharmacies on IRCCA's September 2026 list. Farmacia Senaqué is at Evaristo Ciganda 750 in San José de Mayo, the departmental capital, and Farmacia Rapetti is at San José 649 in Rafael Perazza. IRCCA counted four licensed clubs in the department in April 2026.

Libertad, the department's other sizeable town, has no pharmacy, though IRCCA lists its Correo Uruguayo branch, along with the departmental office in San José de Mayo, for home-grow registration. Many residents also work or shop in Montevideo, which had 26 of Uruguay's 60 cannabis pharmacies in April 2026; a registered buyer can use any pharmacy in the network, since limits are tracked centrally by fingerprint.

The national rules apply: registration only for Uruguayan citizens and permanent residents aged 18 or older, one access route per person, 10 g a week and 40 g a month from pharmacies, in 5 g packets priced from $U 500 to $U 630 since August 1, 2026. Home growers may keep up to six female plants per household. Club members share one registered grow of up to 99 plants.
