Farmacia Octava, at 18 de Julio 2135, is the department's only pharmacy on IRCCA's September 2026 list, and IRCCA counted just two licensed clubs here in April 2026. Young, the department's other main town, has a Correo Uruguayo branch that IRCCA lists for home-grow registration but no pharmacy.
Who can use it, and how much:
- Uruguayan citizens and permanent residents aged 18 or over, registered once at Correo Uruguayo or at a participating pharmacy.
- Up to 10 g every 7 days, 40 g every 30 days and 480 g a year, checked by fingerprint at the counter.
- Sealed 5 g packets of four state-defined varieties, from $U 500 (Alfa) to $U 630 (Épsilon) since August 1, 2026.
Fray Bentos is linked to Argentina by the bridge to Gualeguaychú, and cross-border visitors are common. None of them can register, and taking cannabis out of Uruguay is illegal even when it was bought at a licensed pharmacy. For residents who prefer to grow, the limit is six female plants per household.
