Edmonton's zoning bylaw keeps any two cannabis stores at least 200 metres apart, and that rule shapes the whole list. Verdex counts 175 licensed stores in the city, 11 of them with full profiles, and they run along corridors instead of piling onto one block: Jasper Avenue in Oliver, 118 Avenue on Alberta Avenue, 76 Avenue in Ritchie, 50 Street in Jackson Heights and the west end around Callingwood.

The highest scores go to Select Cannabis Co. on 118 Avenue NW, then Crown Cannabis in Ritchie and Hollybud Cannabis on 184 Street NW. Buyers must be 18 or older and show ID.

Where the stores sit and what to compare

The City of Edmonton's zoning bylaw allows cannabis retail only in listed commercial and mixed-use zones and measures the 200 metres between the closest points of two stores. A development officer may not grant a variance of more than 20 metres. The city also publishes active cannabis retail business licences on its open data portal, which makes a useful second check next to the AGLC licensee search.

Questions about this list

How far apart must Edmonton cannabis stores be?

At least 200 metres, measured from the closest point of one store to the closest point of the next, according to the City of Edmonton Zoning Bylaw. A development officer cannot reduce that by more than 20 metres.

Which Edmonton cannabis stores stay open late?

Our Cannabis Discounter profile on Jasper Avenue lists closing at 2 a.m. Thursday to Saturday. Hours change, so confirm on the store's own page before travelling.

Where can I check whether an Edmonton store is licensed?

Search the AGLC licensee list, and compare it with the City of Edmonton's open data set of active cannabis retail business licences. A licensed store shows its licence number on its website.
