The rules

Key rules in the United Kingdom

Plain-language summary. The regulator is Care Quality Commission.

  • Possession (no prescription)

Illegal. Cannabis is Class B, with a maximum of five years' imprisonment and/or an unlimited fine; for possession, police may instead give a warning or a penalty notice of up to £90 on the spot.

  • Prescribed cannabis

Legal when prescribed by a doctor on the GMC Specialist Register and dispensed by a registered pharmacy.

  • Home grow

Illegal. Growing counts as production of a Class B drug, with a maximum of 14 years in prison; a prescription does not permit cultivation.

  • Public use

Using non-prescribed cannabis anywhere is illegal, and prescribed cannabis-based products must not be smoked.

  • Driving

Driving while impaired is illegal everywhere in the UK. England, Scotland and Wales also have drug limits (THC: 2 µg per litre of blood in England and Wales); the limit offense does not apply to drugs taken as prescribed if you are fit to drive. Minimum penalty: a one-year ban.

  • CBD products

Allowed as food only if linked to an application on the FSA public list (England and Wales) and if controlled cannabinoids such as THC stay within 1 mg per container.

  • Daily CBD intake

FSA advice: healthy adults should have no more than 10 mg of CBD a day from food; the THC safe upper limit is about 70 µg a day for an adult (July 2025).

  • Age

No statutory minimum age for a specialist prescription (NHS use includes children with rare epilepsies), but the private clinics in our directory take adults only (18+, or 21+ at Integro). The FSA advises under-18s not to take CBD.

How it works

How cannabis is sold in Bromsgrove

Bromsgrove's cannabis footprint is one business courtyard on Buntsford Drive, with two register entries in offices 9 and 10.

Why do a clinic and a pharmacy share a courtyard?

The register lists Newgrove Pharmacy at 09-10 The Courtyard and Wellford Clinics at Office 9-10 in the same block. Nothing on the register says the two are related, and shared premises alone prove nothing. What it does mean is that a patient may go from prescriber to dispenser in one postcode.

What does a first consultation cost?

Wellford's listing shows a £20 first consultation and monthly memberships from £5 to £20, as recorded in September 2026. The medicine is charged separately, so ask for the full monthly figure before you book.

Is a small, negative Trustpilot record a reason to walk away?

The register notes that Newgrove has a small number of Trustpilot reviews, mostly negative. A handful of reviews says little either way, but it is a reason to look up its GPhC registration and the last inspection before ordering. The clinic comparison guide shows how.

Do I need to be near Bromsgrove?

No. Newgrove dispenses private prescriptions by home delivery, and Wellford is an online clinic. Legal routes and who may prescribe are in the UK prescription guide. See also the England hub.

Cannabis in Bromsgrove: questions

Are Newgrove and Wellford the same company?

The register does not say so. They are listed at neighbouring offices in the same courtyard, which is a fact about the address, not the ownership.

Who inspects each of them?

The clinic is registered with the Care Quality Commission and the pharmacy with the General Pharmaceutical Council, so there are two separate registers to check.
