England medical cannabis pharmacies: 9 GPhC-registered dispensers

Verdex lists 9 English pharmacies that dispense private medical cannabis prescriptions. Each is GPhC-registered and posts or couriers your order.

Two regulators sit behind every English cannabis prescription: the Care Quality Commission checks the clinic, and the General Pharmaceutical Council registers the pharmacy. Cannabis-based products for medicinal use have been Schedule 2 controlled drugs since November 1, 2018, so the dispensing pharmacy carries duties a high-street shop selling CBD does not.

Verdex lists nine English pharmacies. In Farnborough, Lyphe Dispensary ships by tracked Royal Mail Special Delivery, Curaleaf Pharmacy in Sunderland is an online dispenser owned by Rokshaw Ltd, and Phlo Pharmacy is a London digital pharmacy. Others sit in Kenilworth, West Molesey, Bromsgrove, Dagenham and Shipley.

A pharmacy on this list is a delivery address, not a shop

Look at where these pharmacies are: Unit 8 on the Riverside Industrial Estate in Pallion, Unit 12 at Farnborough Business Centre, Unit 13 at Containerville in east London, The Cube in a Dagenham business park. Patients rarely visit. The clinic sends the prescription to a partner, and the medicine arrives by courier, so the address you can check is the pharmacy's registration.

  • Registration: Takoda One in Shipley is recorded under GPhC premises number 9012261, and Specials Pharma in Dagenham met GPhC standards in February 2026. Look for the premises number on the register, then for the latest inspection outcome.
  • Delivery: Lyphe uses tracked Royal Mail Special Delivery, and IPS Pharma states next-day UK delivery.
  • Your choice: a clinic may nominate a partner pharmacy, so ask if you can use another, and if that pharmacy is limited to partner products.

Some pharmacies are also specials manufacturers: IPS Pharma in West Molesey, Surrey, dispenses prescriptions as well. Which body regulates a cannabis pharmacy in England?

The General Pharmaceutical Council registers pharmacies and publishes inspection outcomes. The Care Quality Commission regulates the prescribing clinic, so a patient can check both registers.

Can I collect a medical cannabis prescription from a local pharmacy in England?

Usually not. The pharmacies on this list are online or distance-selling dispensers that post or courier the medicine, and several are in units on industrial or business estates. Some community pharmacies elsewhere in the UK collect locally.

Can I choose which pharmacy fills my prescription?

Ask your clinic. Many clinics send prescriptions to a partner pharmacy, and it is worth asking if you can use a different one and if the range is limited to partner products.

Buying in the United Kingdom

  • Possession (no prescription)

    Illegal. Cannabis is Class B, with a maximum of five years' imprisonment and/or an unlimited fine; for possession, police may instead give a warning or a penalty notice of up to £90 on the spot.

  • Prescribed cannabis

    Legal when prescribed by a doctor on the GMC Specialist Register and dispensed by a registered pharmacy.

  • Home grow

    Illegal. Growing counts as production of a Class B drug, with a maximum of 14 years in prison; a prescription does not permit cultivation.

  • Public use

    Using non-prescribed cannabis anywhere is illegal, and prescribed cannabis-based products must not be smoked.
