About Alternaleaf

Online medical cannabis clinic run by Montu Group UK Ltd near Reading, with a £5-a-month membership; CQC rating Requires improvement (Feb 2026).

Alternaleaf is an online medical cannabis clinic for adults in the UK, run by Montu Group UK Ltd from a registered base at Winnersh Triangle near Reading. Patients book video or phone appointments without a GP referral, but the clinic's FAQ says they must be 18 or over, registered with a GP, able to share their Summary Care Record, and have already tried conventional treatment. It turns away people who are pregnant and anyone with past psychosis or schizophrenia.

Its main selling point is price. When we checked, membership cost £5 a month and covered the required appointments, while pay-as-you-go appointments were £29 each. Year one includes an initial consultation, a one-month follow-up and six- and twelve-month reviews, with repeat requests possible online after 21 days. The clinic quotes flower from £5 per gram, and members get one free delivery a month. Alternaleaf names a Montu pharmacy partner, and the GPhC lists Montu Pharmacy, an internet pharmacy at the same address, whose July 2024 inspection found all standards met.

The CQC picture is less tidy. After a responsive assessment in July 2025, the regulator issued a warning notice in September 2025 about safe care and treatment, and in a report published on 27 February 2026 it rated the Winnersh location Requires improvement, citing breaches around safe care, premises and governance. The same report describes mixed patient feedback. On Trustpilot the clinic still scores highly, although recent low ratings mention delivery delays and slow replies from support.
