Why the closing times differ

The register records closing times from midnight to 02:00 depending on the shop and the day, so a late visit should be checked against each shop's current hours. Haarlem is not one of the ten experiment municipalities, whose shops moved to state-designated growers in April 2025; Zaanstad, in the same province, is. A short trip north therefore changes what is on the shelf, not only the paperwork.

Age checks matter here: the municipality has run a coffeeshop quality mark centred on entrance age control, according to Gemeente.nu, though I could not confirm its current status. Read the residency guide for entry rules, and use the North Holland hub for the other towns.
