How cannabis is sold in Maastricht
What does the rule mean today?
Bring proof of Dutch residence, not just a passport. Maastricht, Breda and Heerlen are the three experiment towns where every shop admits residents only, according to the trial's coverage. Fourteen Maastricht shops take part in the experiment, including Kosbor, Easy Going, Rastafarihouse Boni, Smoky, Mississippi, Cool Running, The Roundabout 69, Club 69, Black Widow, Fantasia, Slow Motion, Missouri, Mary Jane and Maxcy's. The city lies right against the Belgian border, and researchers reported more street dealing in the southern towns after such restrictions began.
Coffeeshop Easy Going is the only Maastricht entry on our register. It is in the Mosae Forum at Hoenderstraat 8, open 10:00 to 00:00 every day of the year, and it is residents-only with trial cannabis only. Verdex gives it 8.3.
What should a visitor do instead?
A visitor without residence status has no coffeeshop route in this town, and buying from the street is the trap the rule created. Our city-by-city residency guide shows where the door is open. For the trial itself, read the Limburg overview.
Cannabis in Maastricht: questions
Can a German or Belgian tourist enter a Maastricht coffeeshop?
No. Maastricht admits only people who can prove Dutch residence, and the trial keeps that rule.
Does the Mosae Forum shop take cards?
The register does not record payment methods for Easy Going, so ask before you queue. It does record daily hours, 10:00 to 00:00.
