How cannabis is sold in Chonburi
Chonburi province includes Pattaya, Jomtien and the Sattahip coast, and Pattaya was one of Thailand's busiest cannabis retail areas before 2025. Today the same medical-only rules apply as in Bangkok: a cannabis dispensary in Pattaya may sell flower only against a PT33 prescription issued by a recognized practitioner, covering no more than 30 days, after checking the buyer's ID.
Many remaining shops around Central Pattaya, Walking Street, Second Road and Jomtien have partnered with practitioners or added a consultation room. Some route customers through an online review first; legal analysts have noted that the 2025 notification recognizes paper prescriptions from practitioners working in clinics, so visiting a clinic in person avoids doubt. Licences are handled by the Chonburi Provincial Public Health Office for DTAM, and since May 1, 2026 renewals require medical or herbal premises with trained staff on site.
Nightlife areas are where visitors most often run into trouble. Smoking in public can bring nuisance fines of up to THB 25,000, licensed shops may not allow consumption on the premises, and sales to anyone under 20 are banned.
