How it works

How cannabis is sold in Winnipeg

In 2021 CBC reported that Osborne Village was one of three Winnipeg neighbourhoods with cannabis retailers within 50 metres of each other, and the city recommended a zoning review.

Where the reviews are

Verdex lists 133 Winnipeg stores from the LGCA register, 18 with full profiles. The heaviest review records belong to Flamingo + Cannabis on Main Street (about 680 Google reviews at 4.8) and the Pembina Highway Canna Cabana (about 950 at 4.7). In Osborne Village, Delta 9 Cannabis Store at 478 River Avenue lists click-and-collect. Cannazonia is on Notre Dame Avenue near the Health Sciences Centre, and Jupiter Cannabis on Academy Road in River Heights lists same-day delivery. Canna Cabana St. Vital, Farmer Jane and Happy Valleys in North Kildonan complete the first eight.

What the till adds

Manitoba spared non-medical cannabis its 7% retail sales tax, so a Winnipeg receipt carries only the 5% GST, according to the province; it also repealed the 6% social responsibility fee once charged to retailers. Home-grow and the wider rules are in the Manitoba guide and on the Manitoba hub.
