Uruguay cannabis pharmacies: where registered buyers can buy

Verdex lists 67 Uruguayan pharmacies selling state cannabis, 30 in Montevideo. Residents only: 10 g a week, 500 to 630 pesos per 5 g packet.

The Uruguayan pharmacy never sees your ID. A fingerprint reader tells the pharmacist only if you are still inside your limits: 10 g in the last 7 days, 40 g in 30 days and 480 g in a year. Only citizens and permanent residents aged 18 or over who have registered with the regulator IRCCA at a Correo Uruguayo post office can buy, and tourists cannot register.

Since August 1, 2026 a sealed 5 g packet costs 500 to 630 pesos. IRCCA counted 60 selling pharmacies in April 2026; Verdex lists 67, 30 of them in Montevideo, among them Farmacia Bvar. España 2319 in Parque Rodó and the Punta del Este pharmacy on Avda. Pedragosa Sierra.

Prices are set by IRCCA, not by the pharmacy, so comparing shops on price is pointless. The choice is the variety.

Épsilon, added in October 2024, is the best seller, according to IRCCA's report for January to April 2026. What differs between pharmacies is stock and location. The 67 Verdex entries sit in 14 of Uruguay's 19 departments: Montevideo 30, Canelones 9, Maldonado 8, Rocha 5 and Salto 4, with single pharmacies in places such as Paysandú. IRCCA's April 2026 count found none in Colonia, Durazno, Florida, Soriano or Treinta y Tres.

  • Registered as club member or home grower? You cannot also buy here; switching to pharmacy purchase needs a three-month wait.
  • Fingerprints unreadable? The post office prints a dispensing ticket valid for 30 days.
  • Only 34,122 of 88,955 registered buyers bought anything in April 2026, so call ahead rather than assume stock.

Questions about this list

Can tourists buy cannabis at a Uruguayan pharmacy?

No. Registration needs a Uruguayan cédula showing citizenship or permanent residence, according to IRCCA, so visitors cannot use pharmacies. IRCCA's director said in February 2026 the institute is studying access for non-residents, but nothing was in force as of September 2026.

How much cannabis can I buy at a pharmacy in Uruguay?

Up to 10 g in any 7 days, 40 g in any 30 days and 480 g in any 365 days, sold in sealed 5 g packets. The system counts back from each purchase rather than by calendar month.

How do I find a pharmacy that sells cannabis?

IRCCA publishes a list of member pharmacies, and the list changes as pharmacies join. Verdex's Uruguay page shows those it has matched, but a pharmacy may still be out of the variety you want, so phone first.

  • Possession

    Up to 40 g is considered personal use.

  • Home grow

    Registered growers may keep up to 6 female psychoactive plants per household, harvesting no more than 480 g a year; one grow per dwelling. Registration expires after three years.
