Punta del Este has a cannabis pharmacy, and it will not sell to you if you are visiting. Maldonado had seven pharmacies authorized to sell adult-use cannabis in April 2026, the third-highest count in Uruguay, and the resort's tourists are not eligible, since only registered citizens and permanent residents aged 18 or over can buy. The regulator said in February 2026 that it was studying access for non-residents, but no change had been adopted by September 2026.

Verdex lists eight entries: the Punta del Este pharmacy on Avda. Pedragosa Sierra, two in Maldonado city (Cno. de los Gauchos and Dr. Román Bergalli 445), one in Barrio Hipódromo, one in San Carlos and one in Aiguá. Farmacia La Cabina in Las Flores appears twice.

Off-season buyers, duplicate rows and rural addresses

IRCCA's list places Maldonado's pharmacies in Punta del Este, the city of Maldonado, San Carlos, Aiguá and the village of Las Flores on Ruta 10. The duplicate row for La Cabina, at Ruta 10 Km 89.500, explains why our count is one higher than the regulator's. Local buyers are the customers: residents who registered at a Correo Uruguayo branch may buy up to 10 grams a week in 5 gram packets at prices IRCCA sets.

  • Visitors: buying from an unlicensed seller remains illegal, and legally bought cannabis cannot be taken out of the country.
  • Smoking: banned in enclosed public places and workplaces, including taxis and buses, under IRCCA's rules.
  • Stock: pharmacies cannot advertise, so call to learn whether a variety is in.

Because the season swells the population, a resort pharmacy is not a sign that a visitor can register. The IRCCA warning about fake clubs on social media applies with extra force where tourists ask for cannabis. Registration and limits are covered in our pharmacy buying guide, and the Montevideo pharmacy page has the capital.
