Ettelbruck's counter is open for an hour and a half: Monday to Friday, 14:00 to 15:30. Luxembourg's medical cannabis reaches patients through only four hospital pharmacies, and the hours in the Health Directorate's July 2022 patient leaflet are tight enough to plan a trip around.
Verdex lists all four: the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg on rue Barblé, the Hôpital Kirchberg of Hôpitaux Robert Schuman on rue Edward Steichen, CHEM in Esch-sur-Alzette, which works by appointment, and CHdN in Ettelbruck. A secure prescription from a doctor with the Directorate's training must be presented within 60 days, and nothing is paid at the counter under the pilot.

Since January 1, 2025 the range is CBD-dominant and balanced THC/CBD flower, capped at 60 g per 28 days, plus three oils (THC-dominant, CBD-dominant, balanced); THC-dominant flower was withdrawn. Patients must live in Luxembourg, be covered by the national health insurance CNS or be Luxembourg nationals, which includes cross-border workers paying into the CNS. Conditions are severe chronic pain in advanced illness, chemotherapy nausea and multiple sclerosis spasticity; pain accounted for 99% of 2024 prescriptions, the ministry said, and Delano counted more than 1,100 registered patients.
A split supply must be collected at the same pharmacy, and for Schengen travel the Directorate can issue a certificate valid up to 30 days. Hours may have changed since 2022, so call first. Can I buy medical cannabis in Luxembourg without a prescription?
No. Only a doctor who completed the Health Directorate's training can prescribe it, on a secure duplicate pad, and only the four hospital pharmacies dispense it. There are no cannabis shops or clubs in Luxembourg.
Does medical cannabis cost anything in Luxembourg?
Under the pilot programme the Health Ministry covers the products. Nothing is paid at the counter, according to the ministry's patient leaflet.
Can I drive while using medical cannabis in Luxembourg?
The ministry advises against driving, and road law treats 1 ng/ml of THC in blood as an offence. Effects can last more than 24 hours, and people who must drive for work should not be treated with it, the ministry says.
