The only medical cannabis dispenser in southern Luxembourg: the CHEM hospital pharmacy in Esch-sur-Alzette, by appointment on a secure prescription.
Patients in the south of the country, around Esch-sur-Alzette, Differdange and Dudelange, collect medical cannabis at the pharmacy of the Centre Hospitalier Emile Mayrisch (CHEM). It is the only one of the four authorized hospital pharmacies outside Luxembourg City and Ettelbruck.
Unlike the capital's two pharmacies, CHEM works by appointment: the Health Directorate's leaflet lists collection between 13:00 and 16:00 after booking by phone. Book before travelling, particularly for a first dispensing, and bring the secure prescription issued on the duplicate pad by a doctor trained and certified by the Health Directorate. The prescription is valid for presentation for 60 days.
Products are the national range. From 1 January 2025 the ministry stopped supplying THC-dominant flower, cut the flower cap from 100 g to 60 g per 28 days and kept a THC-rich oil alongside CBD-dominant and balanced options. Its November 2024 statement cited variable absorption of inhaled THC and the risk that flower is smoked.
