About Centre Hospitalier du Nord – Hospital Pharmacy

Hospital pharmacy of the Centre Hospitalier du Nord in Ettelbruck, the northern Luxembourg dispenser of medical cannabis on a secure prescription.

In northern Luxembourg, the Centre Hospitalier du Nord (CHdN) in Ettelbruck runs the only hospital pharmacy authorized to hand out medical cannabis north of the capital. The Health Directorate's patient leaflet lists it with CHL, Hôpitaux Robert Schuman and CHEM.

Its window is the shortest of the four: Monday to Friday, 14:00 to 15:30, according to the leaflet, which also gives a pharmacists' phone line and email. Patients from Wiltz, Clervaux or Diekirch should plan the trip around that slot.

The rules are the same nationwide. Only a doctor who has completed the Health Directorate's certified training can prescribe, on a secure duplicate pad; the patient must present the prescription within 60 days, and a split supply must be collected from the same pharmacy. Eligibility covers people who live in Luxembourg, are CNS-insured or are Luxembourg nationals, for three groups of conditions: severe chronic pain in serious illness, chemotherapy-related nausea and vomiting, and multiple sclerosis spasticity.

Since January 2025, flower is limited to CBD-dominant and balanced varieties, 60 g per 28 days, and a THC-rich oil remains. The ministry advises patients not to drive, and Luxembourg road law treats 1 ng/ml of THC in blood as an offense.
