What changed in 2026
The reform was a compromise. According to Expats.cz, the Pirate Party's plan for a regulated market was rejected, so there are no licensed shops or clubs. Growing 4–5 plants is a misdemeanor, and more than 200 g at home is a felony.
What do Prague's “cannabis shops” actually sell?
Hemp and CBD products, seeds and grow kits — not THC flower. The stores you see around the old town sell products at or below 1% THC. Here is how the six sellers Verdex lists fit in:

Can tourists buy or smoke weed in Prague?
No legal purchase exists for anyone, resident or visitor. Street offers near Wenceslas Square and the old town are illegal sales, and buying from them makes you part of an offence.

Is weed legal in Prague in 2026?
Partly. Since January 1, 2026 adults may grow up to three plants at home, hold 100 g of dried cannabis at home and carry 25 g in public. Any sale or gift of cannabis is still a crime, so there are no legal shops.
Can I buy cannabis in a Prague shop?
Only hemp and CBD products at or below 1% THC. THC flower is available only through pharmacies on a Czech medical prescription.
Who can get medical cannabis in the Czech Republic?
Patients with a prescription from an authorized doctor; since April 2025 GPs can also prescribe for chronic pain that hasn't responded to other treatment. Health insurers cover 90% of the cost up to 30 g a month, according to Brno Daily.
What is the legal age for home growing in Czechia?
21, according to Cannapio's summary of the 2026 law. Plants must be grown on property you have rights to and must not be visible from public spaces.
Are street dealers in Prague a legal option for tourists?
No. Selling cannabis is a criminal offence regardless of quantity, and the 2026 reform did not create any legal retail for visitors.
