How cannabis is sold in Moravian-Silesian Region
In the Moravian-Silesian Region, the main medical cannabis provider is University Hospital Ostrava (FNO). Its pharmacy began preparing cannabis medicines in September 2019 together with the hospital's Pain Treatment Centre, and its public dispensary in the polyclinic building in Ostrava-Poruba is open on weekday mornings and early afternoons. Patients need an electronic prescription from a qualified doctor, including general practitioners for chronic intractable pain since April 2025, and health insurance covers 90% of the price within set limits.
The region also has legal hemp businesses. Konopný Táta, a brand founded by Jiří Nutil, who has worked with hemp since 2010, makes hemp ointments, CBD and CBG oils and foods and runs a shop in Těrlicko near Havířov. Hemp products are legal when they contain no more than 1% THC, while semi-synthetic cannabinoids such as HHC have been banned since 2024. Since 1 January 2026 adults 21 and over may grow three plants and keep up to 100 grams at home, but cannabis cannot legally be bought or sold. People searching for medical cannabis in Ostrava should contact FNO's pharmacy or pain centre.
