Strains for feeling calm

A steady, unhurried state often reported with balanced THC:CBD strains.

Based on what consumers report, not clinical evidence. The same strain can feel different depending on dose, tolerance, setting and batch.

About “calm”

Only four of the 74 strain profiles published in September 2026 use the calm tag, and none rates it strong. Two rate it moderate: Charlotte's Web (under 1% THC, up to 20% CBD) and Cannatonic (4–8% THC, up to 14% CBD). That pattern points at CBD, and the trials are less generous than the tag.

StudyDose and routeResult
Bergamaschi et al., Neuropsychopharmacology, 2011: 24 adults with social anxiety disorder600 mg CBD by mouth, one doseAnxiety during a simulated public talk was lower than with placebo, close to healthy controls.
Englund et al., Journal of Psychopharmacology, 2013: 48 healthy volunteers600 mg CBD by mouth before 1.5 mg THC intravenouslyTHC-elicited paranoid symptoms were reduced.
Englund et al., Neuropsychopharmacology, 2023: 46 infrequent users10 mg THC vaporized with 0, 10, 20 or 30 mg CBDNo CBD level protected against anxiety, psychotic symptoms or memory impairment.

The first two used a 600 mg swallowed dose. The third used inhaled cannabis at CBD:THC ratios its authors call common in medicinal and recreational products, and found no protection. So calm from a high-CBD strain is a plausible experience, not a demonstrated effect.

If calm is what you are shopping for, read the label as data: the lab report guide shows where the CBD figure sits, and CBD vs THC covers the trade-offs.
