Patong in Phuket, Khaosan Road in Bangkok, Loi Kroh Road in Chiang Mai and Sukhumvit: Verdex's four Thai cannabis clinics sit where visitors stay. A clinic differs from a dispensary in one way that now matters: the practitioner, not a counter, is the product. Ananta Medical Cannabis Clinic has branches in Patong and Chalong.

Greenhead Clinic is a Thai traditional medicine chain with a Khaosan branch. Treehouse pairs a clinic with GACP-certified cultivation, and Wonderland Clinic, behind the ThaiCannaMed network, says Thai traditional medicine doctors issue PT33 prescriptions on Sukhumvit daily from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Verdex has verified none of the four.

Why the clinic model is where the rules are heading

Ministerial Regulation No. 2 B.E. 2569, published April 30, 2026, lets a flower licence be renewed only if the business has rights to its premises, keeps at least one DTAM-trained person present during opening hours, holds a qualifying status such as a hospital, herbal product or drug licence, and runs odour and smoke control. The Nation reported in April 2026 that about 18,000 outlets existed at the peak and officials expected only about 3,000 to move to the medical model.

A draft Cannabis Control Bill approved by the cabinet on September 22, 2026 would keep cannabis medical-only, with prescription-only sales, three-year licences and no sales to people under 20; it still has to pass the House of Representatives.

Ask the clinicWhat a compliant answer looks like
Who prescribes?A named practitioner on site, not a chat app
What will I receive?A PT33 naming product, quantity and duration, at most 30 days, one use
What ID?Your passport
Is a prescription guaranteed? No; a consultation fee does not oblige the practitioner to prescribe

A foreign prescription does not count, and flower must stay in Thailand: read flying home with Thai cannabis and the tourist rules.

Questions about this list

Does a visit to a Thai cannabis clinic guarantee a prescription?

No. The practitioner assesses whether cannabis is appropriate, and paying a consultation fee does not oblige them to prescribe. Conditions named in the notification include chronic pain, epilepsy, cancer, Parkinson's disease and insomnia.

Can I use a prescription from my home country in Thailand?

No. A PT33 must be issued in Thailand on the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine template, and foreign prescriptions are not recognized, according to summaries by Tilleke & Gibbins and the Thaiger.

Can I take cannabis bought in Thailand home?

Do not. Thai Customs began fining smugglers 30,000 baht per kilogram on June 17, 2026, on top of Customs Act penalties of up to 10 years, and your destination's law applies when you land.
