How a Coimbra patient actually gets product
The route has two steps and two businesses. A doctor prescribes, then a pharmacy dispenses one of the products INFARMED has authorised. A clinic does not hand over flower. That is why a page for a university city can list a clinic and no shop, and why a search for a "cannabis dispensary in Coimbra" leads nowhere.
Production is close: Tilray's campus in Cantanhede is roughly 25 km away, but it supplies pharmacies and exports, not walk-ins. Portugal's programme rests on Decree-Law 8/2019, and INFARMED granted eight new production licences in March 2025, according to Cannareporter, so supply is widening while the retail step is still the pharmacy. Before booking any consultation, ask what it costs; the register does not record fees. Our guide to Portugal's prescription route covers the products, and the Coimbra district page lists other places nearby.
