About Boerejongens
Coffeeshop company founded in 2007 with shops in Amsterdam Centrum and West, plus Almere, where only regulated trial cannabis is sold.
Boerejongens (Dutch for "farm boys") runs two coffeeshops in Amsterdam and one in Almere. Established in 2007, it is known for interiors inspired by the Amsterdam School style, with marble and brass, and for staff dressed formally, bowler hats included. The company says training is long, with about two years needed to become a fully trained employee, and it resells seeds and genetics from Amsterdam Genetics.
The Amsterdam shops are at Utrechtsestraat 21 in the center, open daily from 07:00 to 00:45, and at Baarsjesweg 239 in West, open daily from 07:00 to 23:45. The third shop, on Grote Markt in Almere (daily 12:00 to 23:45), works under different rules: Almere is one of the ten municipalities in the Dutch controlled-supply experiment, so since 7 April 2025 its coffeeshops may sell only cannabis from government-designated growers. The Amsterdam shops stay under the traditional tolerance policy, in which sales are tolerated but supply to the shops remains illegal.
On Google the Utrechtsestraat shop averaged 4.5 stars from about 5,700 reviews in September 2026. Reviewers keep returning to the red velvet cake and other space cakes, usually adding a warning about their strength, and many first-time visitors credit staff with explaining strains patiently. The review highlights Google shows also include complaints about a queue in the late afternoon and a smoking area upstairs that lacks atmosphere.
Standard rules apply in both cities: 18+ with valid ID and a maximum of 5 grams per purchase.
