How it works

How cannabis is sold in Gozo

Gozo follows exactly the same cannabis law as the rest of Malta. Adults may carry up to 7 grams, grow up to four plants at home out of public view and keep up to 50 grams of dried cannabis there. Public consumption, and consumption wherever the smell causes a nuisance to others, can bring a €235 fine.

What differs is access. The ARUC registry shows very few association sites on Gozo. Sun Growers Farm is registered for Birkirkara and Għajnsielem, which gives Gozitan residents at least one licensed option on the island. Other residents join an association on the main island, since a member may belong to only one association anywhere in the country.

Membership rules are national: applicants must be adults resident in Malta, prove it with a Maltese ID or residence card, and accept the 7-gram daily and 50-gram monthly limits. Visitors staying on Gozo cannot join, so there is no legal way for a tourist to buy cannabis on the island. Check the ARUC registry for current licence holders before contacting any association, and remember that ferry travel between the islands does not change any of these limits.
