How cannabis is sold in Esch-sur-Alzette

The latest change for patients in the south is not in Esch itself but in what the counter may hand over since 1 January 2025.

Why is Esch the only stop outside the capital and the north?

The Health Directorate lists four hospital pharmacies, and the CHEM pharmacy on rue Emile Mayrisch is the one for the whole south. Unlike the two in Luxembourg City, it works on booking, so a first collection needs a phone call before the trip. Split deliveries of one prescription must stay at the same pharmacy.

What should a young patient know?

Esch was the European Capital of Culture in 2022, and the University of Luxembourg's main campus is at Belval on the edge of town. The ministry advises against use under 25 unless the doctor judges the benefit clearly outweighs the risk, and it tells patients not to drive, since road law treats 1 ng/ml of THC in blood as an offence.
