How to Get a REPROCANN Certificate in Argentina (2026)

REPROCANN is free, but since 2025 your certificate depends on a doctor with cannabis training. The steps, the queue and what renewal really involves.

This guide is about Argentina — not the country you picked in the header.

Key takeaways

  • Registration is free; the ministry FAQ says the registry charges nothing.
  • Only doctors listed in REFEPS with cannabis-specific training can support an application (Res. 1780/2025, art. 7).
  • Home-grow certificates last three years and are not renewed automatically.
  • About 100,000 users were waiting in November 2025, so check your status under Mis Trámites.

Most REPROCANN applications that stall do so at the doctor, not at the ministry. In November 2025 official sources told Infobae that about 240,000 people held an authorisation, and the same report counted roughly 100,000 users waiting. REFEPS lists about 5,800 doctors, and the health ministry estimated that about 1,000 of them had the cannabis courses the rules now demand.

Your doctor decides how fast this goes

Resolution 1780/2025 (article 7) accepts only prescribers who are registered in REFEPS, the federal registry of health professionals, and who can show academic training in medical cannabis. The ministry's own FAQ adds the mechanics: the doctor, who needs a current licence number, attaches a sworn statement and the informed-consent form, both as PDFs, and links the patient to the file. The doctor's digital signature must be registered with the health ministry.

So the first call is to the clinic, not to Mi Argentina. Ask whether the doctor is in REFEPS, whether they have the training certificate, and whether they sign digitally with the Ministry of Health. A doctor who cannot answer all three will burn your application.

Six steps from consultation to certificate

  1. Book a compliant doctor.
Confirm REFEPS registration and cannabis training before paying for the consultation.
  2. Get the indication and consent.
The doctor documents the medical indication and you both sign the bilateral consent. The forms are on the ministry's REPROCANN page.
  3. Register your side in Mi Argentina.
Log in, open REPROCANN and choose your profile. The FAQ lists five: patient, responsible party, health professional, legal entity and third-party grower. As a patient you fill in your address, health cover and contact details, pick self-grow or another route, and get a linking code under Mis datos.
  4. Give the code to your doctor.
The doctor enters it, adds a clinical summary, the number of plants and the two PDFs. The file is only counted as started once this link is made.
  5. Choose how you will get cannabis.
Grow it yourself, link to a third-party grower, or link to a registered non-profit.
  6. Track it under Mis Trámites.
The status shows there once the doctor has linked you. When it reads 'aprobado' you download the certificate from the same screen and get an email.

Registration costs nothing. The ministry's FAQ says so in one line, which matters because paid 'REPROCANN fast-track' offers circulate online. A doctor may charge for a consultation. Nobody may charge you for the registry itself.

How long it takes: 15 days on paper, months in the queue

REPROCANN officials told Infobae in November 2025 that complete files clear in about two weeks. The queue tells another story: the same report counts roughly 100,000 users waiting, and the platform gained a button that month letting applicants cancel a stuck file and start again. The report ties the bottleneck to doctors who lacked the credentials Resolution 1780/2025 now requires.

In February 2026 a regional outlet, Sanjuan8, cited sector data of more than 80,000 files waiting, many in 'evaluation' for months, and reported that a federal court in Paraná had ordered the ministry to pay costs over an unjustified delay on one application. Those are press figures, not a ministry statement, so treat them as direction, not a count.

Three ways to source cannabis under one registration

RouteLimit under Res. 1780/2025Certificate
Home grow1 to 9 flowering plants; up to 6 m² indoors or 15 m² outdoors3 years
Third-party growerGrows for themselves and one other patient, up to double the home-grow range; the patient must renounce their own growing in writingNot stated in the sources we opened
Registered non-profitUp to 150 represented patients and 3 growing sites; needs a medical director and a technical manager1 year

The plant rules and what police may do about them have their own guide: REPROCANN home-grow limits and police stops. For the wider rules see the 2026 changes to REPROCANN and the country hub at Argentina.

Renewal means starting over

There is no automatic renewal. The ministry's FAQ says that once the authorisation expires the patient has to file the procedure again. Put the expiry date in your calendar six months ahead, because a doctor who meets the 2025 rules is the slowest part to line up.

If you would rather skip the registry, a prescription for an approved pharmacy product needs no REPROCANN at all. What is on those shelves is explained in CBD in Argentine pharmacies.

FAQ

How much does REPROCANN cost?

Registration is free, according to the health ministry's FAQ. You may pay a doctor for the consultation, but the registry itself charges nothing.

Do I need a special doctor for REPROCANN?

Yes. Under Resolution 1780/2025 (article 7) the prescriber must be listed in REFEPS and have academic training in medical cannabis, must have a digital signature registered with the ministry, and must upload the sworn statement and consent form and link you to the file.

How long is a REPROCANN certificate valid?

Three years for individual growers and one year for non-profits and foundations, per Resolution 1780/2025 (article 10). Renewal is not automatic: once the authorisation expires you file the procedure again.

How do I check my REPROCANN status?

Log in to Mi Argentina and open Mis Trámites. A file shows there once your doctor has linked you. When the status reads 'aprobado' you can download the certificate, and you also get an email.

Can I buy cannabis oil in a pharmacy without REPROCANN?

Yes, if the product is ANMAT-authorised and you have a prescription. Press reports on ANMAT's 2023 authorisation of Cannava's CBD10 oil say an ordinary medical prescription is enough and REPROCANN registration is not needed.
