    About Semillas Endémicas Mexicanna

Mexican company holding a 2023 COFEPRIS authorization to grow hemp (≤1% THC) and make and sell CBD oil; current operations unverified.

Semillas Endémicas Mexicanna S.A. de C.V. is a Mexican company that received one of the first COFEPRIS health authorizations for hemp. According to reporting by Newsweed, based on an exclusive by El Planteo, the official document is dated 17 November 2023 but was delivered to the company only in June 2024.

The authorization allows the company to import seeds and to sow, cultivate and harvest hemp whose THC content does not exceed 1%. It also covers processing the plant to extract cannabidiol and selling CBD oil, on condition that THC stays within the 1% ceiling. Hemp Today described it as Mexico's second hemp licence, after the court-ordered permit for Xebra Brands' subsidiary Desart MX. Industry coverage adds that plant material must be backed by a certificate of analysis from an authorized laboratory and that imports fall under separate rules.

What Verdex could not confirm is whether the company is now producing or selling. No official website, address or product line turned up in September 2026, so we list it as unverified. It is included because it is one of the few Mexican businesses with a documented COFEPRIS authorization for hemp and CBD, which makes it a useful reference point in a market where most CBD sold online has no such permit.

Mexico still has no general law for hemp, and in February 2025 COFEPRIS warned that CBD cannot be used in foods, supplements, cosmetics or beverages. Company-specific authorizations like this one are exceptions, not a general opening of the market.
