Drogeninformationszentrum DIZ (Züri Can)

The Drogeninformationszentrum (DIZ) is the City of Zurich's drug information and drug-checking center on Wasserwerkstrasse, and it is one of the official sales points of Züri Can, the city's legal cannabis pilot trial run with the University of Zurich. It is the only municipal outlet among the trial's sales points; the others are ten pharmacies and nine non-profit social clubs.

Only registered study participants can buy here. To join Züri Can you must be 18 or older, live in the City of Zurich and already use cannabis; pregnant and breastfeeding women and professional drivers are excluded. You pick one sales point when you register, bring proof of residence no older than two months and a signed consent form, and you cannot switch later. Participation is free, and the city says no participant data goes to the authorities.

The assortment is set centrally: 13 products in 5-gram packs, 10 flower varieties with roughly 5 to 20 percent THC and three hash products with 8 to 20 percent, grown organically by the licensed producers Swissextract and Pure Production. Participants may buy up to 10 grams of pure THC a month and no more than two packs a day, at uniform prices set by the study.

According to the University of Zurich, 2,462 people were enrolled on September 7, 2026, recruitment was open, and the city had extended the trial to October 2028. The DIZ sales point is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Consumption in public places remains prohibited for participants.
