    About SafriCanna

SAHPRA-licensed South African medical cannabis cultivator exporting flower to Europe; reports EU-GMP Part I certification since 2023.

SafriCanna is a South African medical cannabis cultivator licensed by the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA). SAHPRA's public register lists Safri Canna (Pty) Ltd, trading as SafriCanna, in Gauteng under licence 0000000021MC (version 4) for cannabis cultivation and export, issued on 14 August 2025 and valid until 14 August 2030.

The company says SAHPRA first licensed it for GACP cultivation in 2020, and that its facility was GMP-approved and CUMCS-certified in 2021. In May 2023 it announced EU-GMP Part I certification, which it said would support further sales in Germany and entry into the UK and Poland. EU-GMP status is what allows flower grown outside the European Union to be sold in pharmacies there.

SafriCanna is an exporter rather than a local retailer. South Africa has no licensed shops for adult-use cannabis, and SAHPRA licences under Section 22C of the Medicines Act cover medicinal and research purposes only. Patients in South Africa who are prescribed cannabis get it through a doctor's Section 21 application and a pharmacy or dispensing doctor.

    • Licence: SAHPRA 0000000021MC – v4, Gauteng (to 2030).
    • Certifications claimed: GACP, GMP, CUMCS, EU-GMP Part I.
    • Customers: pharmaceutical importers in Europe and other export markets.

SafriCanna's own site describes cannabis as helping with a list of conditions; Verdex does not repeat medical claims.
