Curaleaf Portugal is the Portuguese operation of Curaleaf International, the international arm of the Curaleaf cannabis group. According to Curaleaf, it runs two linked facilities: a cultivation site in Alcochete with more than 25,000 square meters of greenhouse space, operated under Good Agricultural and Collection Practices (GACP), and an EU-GMP manufacturing facility in Setúbal that handles flower processing, quality control, packaging and batch release for regulated healthcare markets. The company describes the Alcochete site as one of Portugal's pioneering licensed medical cannabis cultivation sites.
Global Parques, which manages the BlueBiz business park on the Setúbal peninsula, says Curaleaf Portugal has been installed there since 2023 and processes and prepares the plant for medical use in an EU-GMP-certified unit. A March 2025 CannaReporter summary of INFARMED licence lists showed Curaleaf Portugal, Lda. licensed for manufacturing, wholesale trade, import and export.
Curaleaf Portugal is an export-oriented producer. Global Parques reports that Portugal exported about 80 tonnes of medical cannabis in 2025, up 156% on the previous year, with Germany the main destination, and Curaleaf's Portuguese sites feed its supply chain for European markets. We found no Curaleaf product on the list of cannabis preparations authorized for Portuguese pharmacies kept by the Portuguese Medical Cannabis Observatory, so patients in Portugal should not expect to find its products at local pharmacies.
