Summary

The Haunted Vapor Room, a business in Franklin, New Jersey, received a joint FDA–FTC warning letter dated June 29, 2023. The FDA says the company's website offered delta-8 THC edibles including 'Rope 500mg Delta-8 Nerds Candy' and 'Medicated Dope Rope Bites', which the letter says mimic Nerds Rope candy, along with other delta-8 gummies, chocolate bars and edible cones. The FDA considers delta-8 THC an unsafe additive in conventional foods and pointed to the risk that children or unsuspecting adults could mistake such products for ordinary candy. The FTC said selling THC edibles in packaging that copies children's snacks may violate Section 5 of the FTC Act. The letter asked for a written response within 15 working days. In July 2024, the FDA stated that all six companies warned in 2023 no longer had such products in stock.
